High School Mentoring Program
The Mountainside Master Chorale’s high school mentoring program is targeted at local choral students who wish to pursue music in college. Students participate in a full concert cycle, including rehearsals, sectionals, dress rehearsals, and the performance of a full-length choral work. Students will have the opportunity to sing with an excellent community-based choir, and will benefit from working with a university professor. Additionally, students can use their participation in the mentoring program as volunteer service for college and scholarship applications.
In order to participate in the program, High School Choral Directors can recommend up to eight students who are Chamber Singers or equivalent level. After recommendation, students will meet with Dr. Sebastien Vallee, Artistic Director, to audition with a piece of his/her choice. Upon selection for the program, students will be asked to commit to full participation in the full January-March concert cycle, including attendance at rehearsals, sectionals, dress rehearsal, and concert performance.
