Director Bruce Rogers founded Mountainside Master Chorale in 1994. Since its inception, the Chorale has grown steadily in both membership and acclaim by drawing singers from San Bernardino, Los Angeles, Riverside, and Orange counties. Besides performing their regular concert series each year, the Chorale has received numerous invitations to perform at special events. They have sung at various festivals throughout Southern California, performed at the Crystal Cathedral, and are featured in the New Regency motion picture entitled "Goodbye Lover" starring Patricia Arquette, Don Johnson, and Ellen DeGeneres. In July of 1998, the Chorale embarked on a tour of the British Isles, where they were invited to sing at the prestigious Eisteddfod Music Competition in Wales. Mountainside singers' Italy Tour 2001 commenced in Rome, where they were invited to join forces of more than 750 singers in a special performance of the Verdi Requiem. Concerts in Assisi (home of St. Francis), San Gimignano and Padua completed their remarkable tour of central and northern Italy. October 1999 saw the Mountainside Master Chorale perform with the Pacific Symphony and Pacific Chorale in presenting Mahler's 8th symphony ("Symphony of a Thousand") under direction of Carl St. Clair at the nearby Orange County Performing Arts Center. Doc Severinsen brought in the Mountainside Master Chorale to perform Christmas music in December 2003 with his combined band and the Pacific Symphony, again at the OC Performing Arts Center.

Initiated with 40 members, the Chorale is now composed of approximately 75 adult singers who hail from over 20 local cities, and who claim a variety of professional and personal backgrounds. All members share one common interest - they love to sing the challenging works chosen by Dr. Crane. The Mountainside Master Chorale is proud of continually presenting fine choral music from beloved classics to new compositions and contemporary arrangements. A few of the newer works featured in season concerts include Emma Lou Diemer's "Gloria", Morten Lauridsen's "Lux Aeterna", and the West Coast premiere performance of Gwyneth Walker's "An Hour to Dance". The latter is a setting of local Claremont poet Virginia Adair's work of the same title.

A wide diversity of musical styles are presented each season, with concerts that have included major choral works performed with orchestra, a cappella motets, folk songs, spirituals, jazz, opera choruses, and Broadway show tunes. We welcome the opportunity to share the vast library of choral music with our audiences.
